Midlothian has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Midlothian Panthers and the Bullard Panthers will round out the year against one another at 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday at. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, the stars were shining brightly for Midlothian in a 66-52 win over Lincoln. Given Midlothian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 317th, while Lincoln is ranked 902nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alex Gilmore was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. The game was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Case Garcia, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Bullard came tearing into Thursday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against Westwood as Bullard made off with a 81-60 win. Considering Bullard has won six games by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Midlothian's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Bullard, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
