Softball Recap: Houston Christian's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

While Houston Christian put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Chargers. Considering the Mustangs have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Yazmine Johnson was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, MC Been was a standout: she scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lily Herveat, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

The win was the fourth in a row for Houston Christian, bringing their record up to 11-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Houston Christian will face off against Rogers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Francis Episcopal at 4:00 p.m. on the 24th.
