The Morgan Township Cherokees had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They breezed by Oregon-Davis on the road to the tune of 73-44. Given Morgan Township's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Oregon-Davis is ranked 307th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Morgan Township to victory were Jaiden Spratley and Keagen Holder. Spratley scored 13 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals, while Holder scored 19 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Holder has scored at least 25% of Morgan Township's points. Another player making a difference was Connor Havlin, who scored 7 points.
Morgan Township's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Oregon-Davis, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morgan Township will take on Kankakee Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Kankakee Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday. Oregon-Davis will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on New Prairie at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th.
