You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Weslaco's strategy against La Joya on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Weslaco Panthers blew the La Joya Coyotes out of the water with a 64-32 final score. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Despite the defeat, La Joya had strong showings from Lydia Berenice Gonzalez, who posted seven points and ten rebounds, and Cynthia Longoria, who had 14 points and six rebounds. That's the most rebounds Gonzalez has posted since back in November of 2024.

Weslaco has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for La Joya, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-15 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Weslaco Panthers take on the Edinburg North Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Weslaco will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for La Joya, they will challenge Edinburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
