The Magdalena Steers won the last time they faced the Alamo Navajo Cougars, and things went their way on Friday too. Magdalena was the clear victor by a 49-24 margin over Alamo Navajo. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-4.
Magdalena can attribute much of their success to Jorianne Mirabal, who scored 19 points along with 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliza Apache, who scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Magdalena and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Alamo Navajo, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Magdalena will be playing in front of their home fans against Animas at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Alamo Navajo, they will face off against To'hajiilee at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
