It was a good run, but The Bunkie Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak dating back to last season on Friday. They took a hard 38-22 fall against Jena. Bunkie lost against Jena in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 42-35 score last time.
Despite the loss, Bunkie still got an impressive performance from Dillon Compton, who rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns. Tanner Lemoine also helped out as he racked up 100 rushing yards.
Bunkie's defeat dropped their record down to 7-1. As for Jena, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0.
Bunkie will face off against Bolton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bolton comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Jena, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Caldwell Parish at 7:00 p.m. Caldwell Parish will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Jena is ranked 40th).
