It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Gunnison Cowboys can now relate to. They took a serious blow against Strasburg on Saturday, falling 56-14. Gunnison's defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Strasburg to victory, but perhaps none more so than Landen Martin, who threw for 259 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Thomas Devlin was another key contributor, rushing for 162 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Strasburg's defense and their four sacks. Devlin was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Gunnison's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Strasburg, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Gunnison does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Strasburg will face off against Wray at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wray has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 223 points over their last five games.
