Basketball Recap: Knakai Starks Key Part of a Team Effort in Bison Win

Vista PEAK Prep lost to Fruita Monument back in January of 2020, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Vista PEAK Prep Bison walked away with a 61-50 win over the Fruita Monument Wildcats. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bison.

Vista PEAK Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Knakai Starks led the charge by putting up 18 points. The match was Starks' third in a row with at least ten points. Jade Hibbler was another key player, going 7 for 12 on her way to 15 points and six assists.

Vista PEAK Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fruita Monument only racked up six assists.

Fruita Monument's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Peyton Willford, who posted 11 points and eight rebounds, and Hailee Wagner, who put up ten points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Willford a new career-high in points.

Vista PEAK Prep picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-4. As for Fruita Monument, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Vista PEAK Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 84-38 defeat against Cherokee Trail on the 7th. As for Fruita Monument, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 53-44 win against Eaglecrest on the 4th.
