Mesquite is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Friday. They will head out on the road to face off against the Eastmark Firebirds at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Mesquite took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 50-27 margin over Greenway. The Wildcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Parker Kaczmarek, who rushed for 316 yards and six TDs while picking up 12.6 yards per carry. Those six rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mesquite was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 406 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Eastmark got themselves on the board against Washington on Friday, but Washington never followed suit. They blew past the Rams, posting a 48-0 victory. Given the Firebirds' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Rams are ranked 181st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Eastmark found their leader in sophomore Dayne Silver, who threw for 286 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.4 yards per attempt. Kyson Lunt was another key player, picking up 81 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Eastmark didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brent Glover and James Rivard.
The win made it two in a row for Eastmark and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.5 points over those games. As for Mesquite, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Mesquite was dealt a bruising 51-0 defeat at the hands of Eastmark in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
