The Compass Academy Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Lamesa Tornadoes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Compass Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
On Monday, Compass Academy earned a 5-2 win over Coahoma.
JACKSON CLARK spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.
At the plate, KAISON BIVINS was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Meanwhile, Lamesa fell victim to Denver City and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 7-0 to the Mustangs. The Tornadoes haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Lamesa's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-8. As for Compass Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 21-1.
Compass Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. The Cougars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Lamesa, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Compass Academy continue to outrun the ball?
Compass Academy might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Lamesa when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
