The Denver South Ravens won the last time they faced the Lakewood Tigers, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Denver South came out on top against Lakewood by a score of 55-44.
Denver South can attribute much of their success to Nevaeh Millard, who scored 20 points along with 6 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Millard has scored at least 25% of Denver South's points. Ka'Niya (KJ) Anderson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 8 rebounds.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dyani Parrish, who scored 16 points. Parrish scored a full 36.4% of Lakewood's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Tessa Sanders, who scored 11 points along with 8 assists and 3 steals.
Even though they lost, Lakewood were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Denver South only posted four.
Denver South now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lakewood, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Denver South will take on Thomas Jefferson at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Thomas Jefferson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday. As for Lakewood, they will head out on the road to face off against Poudre at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
