Independence will take on the Freedom Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Independence is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Independence not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 5, 2024. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Broad Run. Independence's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Kayden Pak spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.
On the hitting side, Emma Stringer was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Riley Riccardi, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.
Stringer wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Independence lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three contests, Freedom finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They came up short against Woodgrove, falling 8-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Wolverines: they've now lost nine in a row.
Ashleigh Bronowicz and McKenzie Powell stepped up to the plate in a big way. Bronowicz scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Powell went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
Freedom's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Independence, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Freedom's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Independence has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Freedom, though, as they've been averaging 10.4 hits. Given Independence's sizable advantage in that area, Freedom will need to find a way to close that gap.
