The Axtell Longhorns will head out on the road to face off against the Riesel Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Riesel took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Axtell, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Axtell made off with a 48-47 victory over the Panthers.
Meanwhile, Riesel's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight defeat. They lost to Dawson on the road by a decisive 50-31 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Riesel in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Trent Hickerson, who scored nine points.
Axtell now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Riesel, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-15.
Axtell strolled past the Indians in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 39-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for Axtell since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
