Edwards County is 2-8 against Hamilton County since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the Foxes at 4:30 p.m. Edwards County will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
On Monday, Edwards County got the win against North Clay/Clay City by a conclusive 14-4. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Allison Groff was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Madison Miller was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Braelyn Troyer was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Edwards County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive matchups.
Zeigler-Royalton hit Hamilton County with a four-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Foxes took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tornadoes.
Hamilton County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Kelley, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Those stolen bases were Kelley's first of the season.
Edwards County's record is now 12-4. As for Hamilton County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Edwards County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. However, it's not like Hamilton County struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Edwards County came out on top in a nail-biter against Hamilton County in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 5-3. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Foxes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
