Campion Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They breezed past the Nederland Panthers to the tune of 75-29. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cougars had established a 36-point advantage.

Jonny Lopez-Morquecho had an outrageously good game as he posted 17 points and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Harlow, who put up nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Campion Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nederland only pulled down six.

When it comes to explaining why Nederland lost, don't look at Mason Ivey. Despite the final result, he had 12 points and five boards. Casey Hambourger was another key player, putting up two points.

Nederland is on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Campion Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Loveland Protestant Reformed Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Nederland, they are taking a road trip to face off against Gilpin County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
