The Dove Creek Bulldogs waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Nucla 52-35. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Dove Creek also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Kalie Gatlin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Kylie Gatlin was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lantry Galley, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendra McCluer, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Dove Creek pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32 points. As for Nucla, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Coincidentally, Dove Creek and Nucla will both be playing Ridgway the next time they take the court. Nucla will host Ridgway at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Dove Creek will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
