The Denair Coyotes won the last time they faced the Waterford Wildcats, and things went their way on Friday too. Denair came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 47-36.
Denair found their leader in underclassman Koby Cervantes, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds. Cervantes has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Salvador Virgen, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Denair's win bumped their record up to 11-15. As for Waterford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Denair will face off against the Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Waterford, they and the Grizzlies will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Mariposa County comes in on a streak of failing to score more than zero points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
