Softball Recap: West Boca Raton Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Coral Springs Charter, West Boca Raton was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Boca Raton Bobcats by a score of 9-5. The game was the first time the Bulls have beaten the Bobcats on their field since March 8, 2021.

Megan Brockmann made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Erin Broadley and Madison Luft did most of the damage at the plate: Broadley scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Luft scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those two hits gave Broadley a new career-high. Nohelia Cruz-Cowan also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

West Boca Raton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.7 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.2.

West Boca Raton's win bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Boca Raton, their record now sits at 6-4.

Looking ahead, West Boca Raton will square off against Park Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cobras' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Bulls' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Boca Raton, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Boca Raton Bobcats take on Olympic Heights Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Their pitchers better be ready for this one: Olympic Heights has averaged an impressive 13.3 runs per game this season.
