Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Franklin Community's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

While Franklin Community put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Martinsville. The Grizzly Cubs were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Artesians. Considering the Grizzly Cubs have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Carsten Bland, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Bullington, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Franklin Community has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Martinsville, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Looking ahead, Franklin Community will head out on the road to face off against Bloomington South at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Grizzly Cubs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Martinsville, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Indian Creek at 5:30 p.m. The Artesians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Braves have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
