Braxton County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-12. They came up short against the Ravenswood Red Devils, falling 13-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-1 back in March.
Braxton County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kallen Meadows, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Ravenswood, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-5. Considering they have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Ravenswood's side, Brooks Wolfe made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wolfe also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Ravenswood is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise. Wolfe was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joe Casto, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Isiah Nesselroad was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Braxton County will square off against rival Poca at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ravenswood is set to face off against their familiar foe Buffalo at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
