If not a for a pair of errors and three unearned runs in the Wisconsin softball Division 1 state semifinals last year, the list of longest active win streaks heading into the 2025 season would look a lot different.
Kaukauna was riding a 108-game win streak last year and was on course for its fourth straight state championship. The Galloping Ghosts were just four wins away from tying the record of 112 in a row set by
Vandebilt Catholic (Houma, La.) from 1980-83.
While Kaukauna wouldn't have been able to break the record last year, it could have finished the 2024 season with 110 straight with a chance to break the record at the start of the 2025 season.
However
Milton had other plans. The Red Hawks pulled out the stunning 5-3 win on the three unearned runs, ending Kaukauna's streak at 108 in a row. That ties the Galloping Ghosts at No. 2 all-time with
Barbe (Lake Charles, La.), which won 108 from 1988-91.
The longest active win streaks list thus finds four teams with over 50 straight wins, including
Prospect Mountain (Alton, N.H.) and
Coahoma (Texas) tied at No. 1 with 58 in a row.
Bishop O'Connell (Arlington, Va.) has 55 while
Summerville (S.C.) comes in at 52 in a row.

Prospect Mountain has won three straight state championships in New Hampshire with records of 19-0, 20-0 and 19-0. The senior class has never lost a game and is the favorite to win it all again in 2025. The Timberwolves could possibly tie
Moultonborough Academy (Moultonborough) for No. 2 on the all-time state list with 78 wins in a row.
Salem, which won 84 in a row from 1990-93, holds the state record.
Coahoma went 32-0 last year and had a 26-game win streak to end the 2023 season. The 58 straight wins put the Bulldogs within striking distance of the 82-game win streak by
Lake Creek (Montgomery) from 2022 to 2023, which is believed to be the state record in Texas.
Bishop O'Connell is 16 wins away from tying the Virginia state record of 71 in a row by
James Madison (Vienna, Va.) from 1987-89. Meanwhile Summerville won't break the state record in South Carolina this year. The Green Wave are 44 games away from the state record of 96 by
Hillcrest (Simpsonville) from 2002-04.
Following are all the active win streaks of 15 or more games based on results reported to MaxPreps. Streaks for summer and fall softball are also included and noted.
