Given Cross Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 19th in Delaware, while Hightstown is ranked 150th in New Jersey), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cross Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tavaris Hall led the charge by scoring 19 points. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Brewington, who scored 18 points.
The victory was the third in a row for Cross Christian Academy, bringing their record for this year to 4-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 20.33 points. As for Hightstown, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cross Christian Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Phelps at 4:00 p.m. on January 10th. As for Hightstown, they will be playing at home against Princeton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
