Kaw Valley recap October 22, 2013
Mill Valley extended the longest winning streak in Kaw Valley this week by beating Schlagle, 48-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Turner lost to Bishop Miege 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Roy Williams was a bright spot for the Golden Bears, as he ran for 23 yards in the loss.
Ty Bruce threw for 86 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Tim Sanders was a passing and rushing force as Basehor-Linwood lost to Jefferson West. He completed 12 passes for 203 yards and 4 touchdowns and also ran for 44 yards. Sanders' favorite target this week was Boston Henry, who caught 5 passes for 73 yards.
Cole Holloway was the best running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 176 yards as Tonganoxie topped DeSoto. Teammate Shane Levy added to the ground attack by rushing for 95 yards.
Lansing's Krystian Abbott and Khalil Bailey have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Abbott has thrown for 1,826 yards this season, while Bailey has 37 catches for 970 yards. The Chieftains' Holloway leads the league in rushing yards with 1,035.
The Lions' Abbott is within 174 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against the Stallions.
Lansing's Bailey needs only 30 receiving yards against Schlagle to crack 1,000 for the season. He has recorded 37 catches for 970 yards this year.
Mill Valley led Kaw Valley in scoring this week after putting up 48 points on Tim Dorian's team. Bruce ran for 90 yards during the win.
