Football Recap: Tom Bean Starts Season with Win at Home

Tom Bean gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 56-6 victory over the Cumby Trojans. The Tomcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Trojans, too.

Donnie Hooten was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 329 yards and five touchdowns while completing 84.2% of his passes. That's the most passing touchdowns he has posted since back in September of 2024. Camden Stephens was Hooten's top target, picking up 54 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while also punching in one rushing score.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Tom Bean proved: they limited Cumby to a paltry 3.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Ryan Dearmond for the heroic effort on defense: he. Tom Bean didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged seven.

Tom Bean didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Brayden Bomar. Tatum Hanson was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 11 total tackles.
