Softball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Silverton's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Silverton unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 13-9 to the North Eugene Highlanders. The Foxes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Highlanders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2016.

Hannah Houts made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Madalynn Ehrens was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Silverton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for North Eugene, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Silverton will challenge Sunset at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Foxes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Apollos have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for North Eugene, they will venture away from home to challenge Ridgeview on Saturday.
