McBee is 0-10 against Lamar since October of 2016 but things could change on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
McBee is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Chesterfield last Friday. The Panthers blew past the Golden Rams 35-14. The Panthers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Meanwhile, Lamar never let their opponents score last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North Central 47-0. The result was nothing new for the Silver Foxes, who have now won three games by 26 points or more so far this season.
McBee better keep an eye on Zori Pierce. He was instrumental in Lamar's win, rushing for 73 yards and two scores on only eight carries, while also throwing for 196 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes. Pierce is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Nygel Eaddy got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Lamar, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Eaddy, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Lamar pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.0 points on average over those games. As for McBee, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. McBee has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 253.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lamar struggles in that department as they've been averaging 242.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
McBee was dealt a bruising 56-7 defeat at the hands of Lamar in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Pierce, who threw for 126 yards and three touchdowns on perfect 9-for-9 passing, and also rushed for 83 yards and one TD on only five carries. Now that the Panthers know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
