ROMOLAND, Calif. -
Heritage (Romoland, Calif.) extended its winning streak to five games with a 49-0 victory over Lakeside (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Brett Virgil to
Stefan Patterson in the first quarter, the Patriots led 42-0 at the half.
Heritage grew its lead to 49 points entering the fourth quarter. HHS scored once in the quarter on a
Carlos Vargas touchdown run.
Heritage's most effective player was Virgil. The sophomore quarterback threw two touchdowns. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.
The Patriots came in allowing an average of 20.6 points per game this season. Heritage held firm on the defensive front, and kept the Lancers well below the 8.3 points it had been averaging per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Lakeside, which notched a 16-6 victory over Perris in its previous outing.
In a Sunbelt game next week Heritage (8-1) takes on Elsinore, and Lakeside (2-7) will go up against Paloma Valley also in a Sunbelt game.
