Braden River hasn't had much luck against Sarasota recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Braden River Pirates will look to defend their home field against the Sarasota Sailors at 6:00 p.m. Braden River is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Braden River fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Bradenton Christian on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 8-7. The Pirates' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.
Sheila Moreno led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Serenity Jessie was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
Even though they lost, Braden River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Sarasota lost a heartbreaker to Inspiration Academy when they met back in February of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Monday. Sarasota fell 8-3 to Inspiration Academy. Braden River's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. Braden River has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Sarasota, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Braden River continue to outrun the ball?
Braden River suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Sarasota in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Braden River have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
