Having just played yesterday, the Jensen Beach Falcons will get right back to it and host the Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lincoln Park Academy will be up against a hot Jensen Beach squad: the team just extended their winning streak to seven. Jensen Beach was the clear victor by a 68-42 margin over Treasure Coast on Thursday. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Titans are ranked 204th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jensen Beach to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayla Brinkley, who posted 14 points along with five boards and five steals. Another player making a difference was Lizzie Fitzwater, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 13 points and three steals.
Meanwhile, Lincoln Park Academy waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 61-35 victory.
Lincoln Park Academy's win came from a few key players Jensen Beach will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Laylah Dawkins, who went 5 of 8 en route to 15 points in addition to six assists and four steals. She has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Juliana Ball, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 15 points.
Lincoln Park Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.
Jensen Beach is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Lincoln Park Academy, their win bumped their record up to 18-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Jensen Beach has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 29.9 boards per game. However, it's not like Lincoln Park Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
