5A District 1 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Del City extended the longest winning streak in 5A District 1 this week by beating Duncan, 23-3. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Eagles.
MacArthur took down Capitol Hill 56-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Southeast's dynamic duo of MICAH HUNTER and TAVON CRAMER proved tough for Chickasha to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. HUNTER threw for 78 yards and one touchdown and CRAMER had 39 yards receiving. STEVEN SMITH, JR helped Southeast's passing attack out by catching one ball for 27 yards.
Clay Atwood was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 24 carries, he ran for 169 yards as Ardmore lost to the Fighting Chicks. Teammate Jamarcus Mills added to the ground attack by rushing for 109 yards.
Southeast's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Spartans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. HUNTER has thrown for 1086 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while CRAMER has 24 catches for 444 yards. ZACHARY GUESS leads the league in rushing with 547 yards.
Two of the top units in 5A District 1 will face off this week when the Tigers take on the Highlanders. Ardmore's offense has racked up 246 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while MacArthur has allowed only 131 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Douglas Wendel's team takes on Brett Manning's team. The Tigers are currently in fourth, while the Highlanders are in second.
MacArthur led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on the Redskins.
