The Derby Panthers and the Gardner-Edgerton Trailblazers squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Derby Panthers had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Trailblazers by a score of 22-19. Derby's loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Derby lost, one person who can't be blamed is Derek Hubbard. Despite the final result, he rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Hubbard was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards.
Among those leading the charge was Bravin Powell, who rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 109 yards and a touchdown on only seven passes.
Derby's loss dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Gardner-Edgerton, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.
Derby does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Gardner-Edgerton also has no future games currently scheduled.
