Angela Flores and Rebekah Millan were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Flores pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Millan kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero hits, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Flores scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while Millan got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Flores has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.
In other batting news, Swett got a massive performance out of Selene Schlepp, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Schlepp is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stole at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Camryn Christian was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Swett lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, Bethel was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They came up short against El Cerrito, falling 23-1. The loss continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Gauchos: they've now lost four in a row.
Bethel saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dakari Washington, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Swett now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Bethel, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Swett hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Bethel struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Swett's way against Bethel in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Swett made off with a 23-5 win. Does Swett have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bethel turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
