Ocoee has been on the road for three straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Dr. Phillips Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Ocoee never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Windermere last Friday. They blew past the Wolverines, posting a 52-21 victory on the road. Given Ocoee's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Windermere is ranked 355th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ocoee got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tavion Greaves out in front who picked up 172 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Greaves' longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards. Joshua Guerrier was another key contributor, rushing for 61 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries.
Meanwhile, Dr. Phillips beat West Orange 10-3 on Friday.
Dr. Phillips' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Stanley Anderson-lofton, who threw for 64 yards and a touchdown. Dr. Phillips also got a significant boost from Amari Major, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 83 yards.
Ocoee's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Dr. Phillips, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Ocoee couldn't quite finish off Dr. Phillips in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 and fell 28-25. Thankfully for Ocoee, Jimez Hamilton (who picked up 74 receiving yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
