San Isidro is 8-2 against Benavides since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The San Isidro Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Benavides Eagles at 6:15 p.m. San Isidro is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, San Isidro came up short against Lasara and fell 61-51. San Isidro has struggled against Lasara recently, as their contest on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Andy Lane, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Ramos, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Benavides came into Friday's matchup having lost 11 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Bruni 34-31. The win was just what Benavides needed coming off of a 75-34 defeat in their prior matchup.
San Isidro has not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-21 record this season. As for Benavides, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-14.
San Isidro was able to grind out a solid victory over Benavides when the teams last played back in January, winning 53-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Isidro since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
