After four games on the road, Santiago is heading back home. They will take on the Lakeside Lancers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Saturday, Santiago was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-53 to South. While losing is never fun, Santiago can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 640th, while South is ranked 131st).
Meanwhile, Lakeside beat South Hills 58-47 on Saturday. The win was just what Lakeside needed coming off of a 71-40 loss in their prior contest.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lakeside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maurice Turner, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Turner's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gabe Trias, who scored 12 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds.
Santiago now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Lakeside, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Santiago suffered a grim 77-55 defeat to Lakeside when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Will Santiago have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
