Severn School hasn't had much luck against St. Mary recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Admirals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Saints at 4:00 p.m. Severn School is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Severn School will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Glenelg Country on Wednesday. The Admirals put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 14-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Admirals in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won four in a row.
Brendan Szydlik made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Szydlik was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other pitching news, Brady Benz looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Fletcher Warner, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Blanck, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Severn School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glenelg Country only posted an OBP of .158.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's came up short against St. Paul's on Wednesday and fell 4-1.
Severn School's win bumped their record up to 15-2. As for St. Mary's, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Severn School beat St. Mary's 4-0 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Admirals repeat their success, or do the Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
