Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Legacy Christian Academy Lions an 11-0 shutout on Monday. Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool is really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 12 straight dating back to last season.
Emily Williams and Eliza Long were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Williams tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Long struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). At bat, Williams went 2-for-3 with two triples and two RBI, while Long scored two runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-2. Those five stolen bases gave Long a new career-high.
In other batting news, Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool got a massive performance out of Cyerra Moore, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Moore is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last four games she's played dating back to last season. Elianah Derouen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Looking ahead, Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool will face off against Psalms Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Legacy Christian Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Good Samaritan HomeSchool at 3:00 p.m. on February 24th.
