It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Tomball Memorial Wildcats had no problem doing just that on Friday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 30-29 victory over Cypress Springs. The win was familiar territory for Tomball Memorial who now have five in a row.
Tomball Memorial got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ashton Ansley out in front who picked up 91 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Treveon Green was another key contributor, rushing for 105 yards and a touchdown.
Tomball Memorial pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Cypress Springs, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-3 record this season.
Tomball Memorial will head out on the road to face off against Willis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Willis knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Tomball Memorial likes a good challenge. Cypress Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
