The Mesick Bulldogs came into Tuesday's matchup having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They strolled past Walkerville with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 49-31. Mesick's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Leading Mesick to victory were Rylee Blach and Kayla McCoy. Blach scored 20 points along with seven rebounds, while McCoy scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. That makes it seven consecutive games in which McCoy has scored at least a third of Mesick's points. Cassie Sexton was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Mesick's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-10. As for Walkerville, they dropped their record down to 2-12 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mesick won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Catholic Central at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully Mesick focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. As for Walkerville, they will be playing at home against Baldwin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Michigan (Baldwin is ranked 689th, while Walkerville is ranked 695th).
