West Warwick has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Shea Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Warwick has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
West Warwick put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They really took it to Prout for the full four quarters, racking up a 64-34 victory at home. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point West Warwick had established a 21 point advantage.
Liz Gresin was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Michelle Motta, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Shea came tearing into Tuesday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Smithfield by a score of 63-56. Given Shea's advantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Smithfield is ranked 27th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
West Warwick's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Shea, their win bumped their record up to 12-1.
West Warwick strolled past Shea in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 46-30. Will West Warwick repeat their success, or does Shea have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
