Baseball Game Preview: Glen Rose Tigers vs. Brownwood Lions

The Glen Rose Tigers will face off against the Brownwood Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Glen Rose is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Glen Rose had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Clifton on Saturday. The Tigers were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Cubs. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.

Braden Harwell made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Glen Rose is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 9-11 otherwise. Harwell was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other pitching news, Ethan McCune looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Glen Rose is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 10-12 otherwise.

Back at the plate, Adrian Sanchez was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Glen Rose's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 9-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Joe Randell, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Glen Rose always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Brownwood's offense. They fell just short of Brock by a score of 2-0 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

Glen Rose now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Brownwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13.
