The Northern Nash Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northern Nash is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Northern Nash had to suffer through a rough 72-40 loss at the hands of the Vikings. While losing is never fun, Northern Nash can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 377th, while the Vikings are ranked 132nd).
Meanwhile, it may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Roanoke Rapids ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against Southern Nash by a score of 54-45. The win was just what Roanoke Rapids needed coming off of a 66-21 defeat in their prior contest.
Shaniah Daniels continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a triple-double on 20 points, 18 rebounds, and nine blocks. Daniels is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Alexis Bednarczyk was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Northern Nash has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Roanoke Rapids, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-10.
Northern Nash didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Yellowjackets in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 48-43 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Daniels, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 16 rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Northern Nash still be able to contain Daniels? There's only one way to find out.
