Mason Campagna continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 165 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.7 yards per carry, and also throwing for 177 yards and one touchdown. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2024. 80 of Campagna's passing yards were hauled in by Jacob Herline, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Claysburg-Kimmel didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Moshannon Valley to a completion percentage of just 43.8%. The Bulldogs hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.56 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Mount Union's strategy against Southern Huntingdon County on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Trojans blew the Rockets out of the water with a 46-9 final score. Considering the Trojans have won three contests by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Mount Union didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Nasir Collins and Hussan Posey. Collins is also crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 118 every time he's taken the field this season. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Claysburg-Kimmel's record now sits at 6-2. As for Mount Union, their record is now 7-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Claysburg-Kimmel has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 157.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mount Union struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 240.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Claysburg-Kimmel couldn't quite get it done against Mount Union in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 21-13. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
