The biggest upset of the week belonged to Watseka, who took down 208th ranked Momence, 21-6.
Aaron Cantwell and Austin Saindon provided fans with a highlight when they connected against the Warriors. The connection went for 63 yards, the longest such play in Sangamon Valley this season.
The Redskins' dynamic duo of Cantwell and Saindon proved tough for Watseka to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cantwell threw for 105 yards and one touchdown and Saindon had 63 yards receiving. Alex Cremer helped Momence's passing attack out by catching one ball for 21 yards.
Chase Patton was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 12 carries, he ran for 105 yards as St. Joseph-Ogden lost to the Warriors. Austin Hedrick also contributed to the rushing game with 14 yards on the ground.
The Spartans' Dalton Walsh and Louis Acklin have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Walsh has thrown for 692 yards this season, while Acklin, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 13 catches for 177 yards. Deandre Wright from Matt Fox's team leads the league in rushing with 975 yards.
The Redskins' Wright is a mere 25 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
A big matchup in Sangamon Valley this week will be when Central takes on Paxton-Buckley-Loda. As it stands, the Comets are in fourth, while the Panthers are in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Central takes on Paxton-Buckley-Loda. Brian Spooner's team has allowed 66 points this season, while Jeff Graham's team has given up 69. The Comets allowed 26 points last week as they bested St. Thomas More.
Watseka moved up to 136 from 234 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 21-6 win over Momence helped the Warriors improve their standing.
