The Lowell Red Devils have been a dominant force so far but will be looking to break out of a two-game mini slump. Their tough 68-46 defeat to Crown Point on Tuesday might stick with them for a while. Lowell lost against Crown Point in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 69-31 score last time.
Lowell's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kirstin Summers, who scored 15 points, and Elysia Laub who scored 8 points along with 10 rebounds. Summers scored a full 32.6% of Lowell's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Ava Ziolkowski continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Crown Point, dropping a double-double on 40 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Ziolkowski's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Emma Charles , who scored 7 points.
Lowell bumped their record down to 6-2 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Crown Point, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lowell will take on Kankakee Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kankakee Valley is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games. As for Crown Point, they will head out on the road to face off against Portage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Portage is ranked 61st, while Crown Point is ranked 85th).
