Basketball Recap: Porter-Gaud Skates Past Baptist Hill with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Porter-Gaud). They couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 62-21 blowout they got against the Baptist Hill Bobcats. The Cyclones have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 30 points or more this season.

Leading Porter-Gaud to victory were Zoe Molten and Perry Chambers. Molten posted 17 points, while Chambers earned 12 points. Another player making a difference was Julia Burdick Gaddy, who had eight points.

Baptist Hill's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Rayven Washington, who put up seven points, and JahNaree Heyward, who posted two points and seven steals. Washington is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.

The win was the third in a row for Porter-Gaud, bringing their record for this year to 4-5. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.0 points per game. As for Baptist Hill, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Porter-Gaud wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 51-33 defeat against Ben Lippen on the 4th. As for Baptist Hill, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-20 victory against Hardeeville on the 7th.
