Softball Recap: Winnebago Lutheran Academy Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Winnebago Lutheran Academy). They blew past the Howards Grove Tigers 21-1 on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Vikings considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Lily Strutz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addyson Suprenand, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Macy Christensen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBI.

Winnebago Lutheran Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.

The win snapped Winnebago Lutheran Academy's losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 2-7 record. As for Howards Grove, their loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Winnebago Lutheran Academy will head out to challenge Omro at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Howards Grove, they will welcome Living Word Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Timberwolves at the right time seeing as the Timberwolves are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
