After losing to the Horizon Prep Lions the last time they met, the Mountain Empire Redhawks decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Mountain Empire managed a 36-30 victory over Horizon Prep on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mountain Empire.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountain Empire to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andrew Sepulveda, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Maximo Gonzalez, who scored six points along with 14 rebounds.
Mountain Empire is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Horizon Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Mountain Empire will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Coastal Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Horizon Prep will finish 2023 at home by hosting Warner at 11:30 a.m. on December 28th. Warner is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
