The Morehead Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past North Forsyth 87-31 at home. Morehead has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 26 points or more this season.
Makel Smith was his usual excellent self, scoring 46 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Avery Bigelow, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Morehead is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for North Forsyth, they dropped their record down to 4-11 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morehead won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Magna Vista at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Magna Vista will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 312th in Virginia, while Morehead is ranked 134th in North Carolina). North Forsyth will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Reidsville at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Reidsville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,101 points over their last 14 contests.
