He also tossed a walk, which is notable because St. David is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-5-1 otherwise. St. David kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.
Meanwhile, Valley Union didn't have quite enough to beat Duncan on Tuesday and fell 6-5.
Jose Avina spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Yahir Luna made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. Angel Caperon was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
